Kansas City Chiefs T Branden Albert isn’t about to forget where he comes from just because he’s made it to the NFL. Growing up, he received a lot of support and special attention from various sources. It was this influence that ensured his future success. Now, this former Virginia Cavalier has made a similar impact on youth in his old stomping grounds.

You see, Albert spent a majority of his childhood back in his hometown of Rochester, New York. Typically, he could be found shooting hoops and hanging out with friends at the local YMCA. A vital outlet, the YMCA helped keep him out of trouble by productively occupying his free time. That is why just before he left for training camp, he spent quality time with kids at the very same YMCA that he once called home.

“My message is from personal experience,” Albert shared with these children, stressing they take accountability for their actions. “Always follow your dreams and never give up. That’s from my personal experience. It’s easy to say ‘I can’t’ but don’t fall into that trap.”

In addition to delivering his inspirational message, Albert posed for pictures and signed autographs for the kids. An avid sports fan, he even treated some members from “The Y” to a Rochester Redwing baseball game. In total, it was all a part of his Inaugural “Branden Albert’s Rochester Kid’s Day.”

Branden has come a long way from the hardwood courts in upstate New York to the perfectly manicured grass of Arrowhead Stadium, but he has not forgotten his roots. Through hard work, perseverance, and the help of some influential individuals, Albert has made his dream come true. Now with his work in the community, he is preparing tomorrow’s leaders to achieve dreams all their own.
