RIVER FALLS WRAP: Day 20 - That's a Wrap…

Breakdown: The Chiefs had their last practice at River Falls today at 11:30 AM. As always, the team broke into position groups and did individual drills to start the practice. Following that, players came together for the final time in River Falls and worked on kickoff and kick return, team passing and two-minute offense.

Plays of the Day: WR Dwayne Bowe made several solid catches in today’s practice, including a touchdown in the back of the end zone on a pass by QB Brodie Croyle. Bowe tip-toed the back line as he was shoved by a defender, ever mindful of the new revision to the “push rule.” The WR got two feet in bounds and counted the TD for the offense.

Weather Watch: The day switched from sunny and clear to cloudy around practice time. The temperature topped out at 76 in River Falls, while back at Arrowhead it was 74 and rainy.

Looking Ahead: We’ll be home tomorrow, and thank heavens. The Chiefs have a day of travel and will rejoin civilized society tomorrow afternoon in Kansas City. A Delta charter will leave the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport at 12:45 PM and is expected to land around 2:10 PM. From there, players, coaches and staff board busses back to Arrowhead.

Reader Questions: What are the players doing to unwind now that camp is over?

Unwind is a liberal term. They still have the whole season to go, but with this afternoon off, several players, including WR Dwayne Bowe, QB Brodie Croyle and RB Larry Johnson, stopped by the Chiefs PR office to hang out and listen to music after lunch. Bowe entertained an ever-growing crowd with his freestyle rapping skills (they were actually pretty good) LJ played DJ as Bowe and Co. sang and rapped and laughed. There might even be a recording of it, but it’s hidden away forever. However, that was just a brief hiatus as the players have meetings and possibly a walk-thru in the ballroom of the University Center later this afternoon.
